Douglas County Community Foundation Appoints Thomas Carter as Executive Director
The Board of Directors of the Douglas County Community Foundation (DCCF) today announced that Thomas Carter, a resident of Douglas County, Colorado has been named Executive Director.
“We are delighted to have Tom join the Foundation,” said Joel Block, Chairman of the Board of DCCF. “He has a solid track record of over 25 years in the nonprofit, private and public sectors and will bring a broad perspective and a renewed focus to the Foundation’s activities. He will work closely with the Board to aggressively build on the Foundation’s past successes and establish a leadership role for our organization as the premier provider of philanthropic services and strategic charitable counsel in Douglas County.”
Prior to his new position, Mr. Carter directed the Asia/Pacific portfolio for the State of Colorado’s Office of Economic Development & International Trade. He spent eight years with Citigroup as Vice President for Multinational Corporate Card development and sales, and has held executive positions with several major nonprofit organizations, including the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce and The Mid-America Committee for International Business & Government Cooperation based in Chicago. He holds an M.A. from the University of Chicago and a B.A. from Northwestern University.
The Douglas County Community Foundation (www.dccf.org) was established in 2000 and was inspired by the legacy of Philip S. Miller, one of the County’s most respected philanthropists. DCCF creates permanent charitable funds -- primarily from local businesses, families and individuals -- which the Foundation then invests and administers in the form of grants to nonprofit organizations which improve the quality of life throughout Douglas County. There are over 20 community foundations in Colorado, including the Denver Foundation and the Pike’s Peak Community Foundation, which is affiliated with DCCF.
