Susan Squyer is the newest member of the DCCF Board having been appointed in June 2009. Since moving to Lone Tree in 1997, Susan has served as a Planning Commissioner for the City of Lone Tree for the last 10 years, is a consummate community volunteer, and has co-chaired several municipal bond campaigns.
Susan is a strong advocate for the Leadership Douglas County program, of which she is a graduate, believing the being informed and being involved is the best way to work cooperatively together. In 2008 Susan founded the Giving Tree, a charitable organization comprised of alums of LDC who live and work in Lone Tree. Since its inception the Giving Tree has had the largest one-day, one-site food drive for the Food Bank at the Douglas/Elbert Task Force and recently worked county- wide to donate 170 backpacks filled with supplies to school children in need in the Douglas County School District for the fall 2009 semester.
Since retiring from the corporate world, Susan is a small business owner and is a Charter Member of the Lone Tree Chamber of Commerce working diligently on the annual A Taste of Lone Tree. Much of Susan’s energy is committed to the work of the Children’s Diabetes Foundation where she serves on the Executive Board of the Guild. She is passionate about raising monies to support research and patient services for Denver’s Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes since her granddaughter’s diagnosis in 2005.
Susan has lived in the metro area since 1970 and resides in Lone Tree with her husband Paul.
