The Douglas County Community Foundation established the Hearts and Hands Fund to address critical needs facing the residents of Douglas County. The Fund provides annual grants to nonprofit organizations serving the County that are providing solutions to pressing issues affecting residents’ quality of life.

Douglas County is recognized in the state and across the nation as a gem – a unique place where beautiful landscapes, unique communities and a thriving economy create a welcoming home for new families, as well as a beloved location for families who have been in the County for generations.

However, every community has needs, including Douglas County. There are residents struggling with hunger, homelessness, affordable housing, transportation, mental health and addiction in every corner of the County.

Each year, this field of interest fund, for community need, identifies up to three areas of need in the County that it will focus its work on for that year’s grants. On Colorado Gives Day 2018, DCCF received a $5,000 matching grant from the Aloha Trust, for the first $5,000 in donations to the Hearts & Hands Fund on December 4, 2018. Due to the success of that campaign, the Aloha Fund offered a second $5,000 matching grant for the first $5,000 in donations from April 25 through July 2019, helping donors double their impact and give locally! The Fund received designated donations from individual donors and organizations. As of July, 2019, the match was met and we were grateful to the many individual donors and Silver Partner – Sky Ridge Medical Center.

In 2019 the fund focused on Healthy Families including services for:

Mental Health
