Carrie Buchan is the Chief Operating Officer for the foundation with over three decades of experience working in both the for-profit and non-profit sectors, in the areas of community and public relations, leadership development, fundraising and program management.
Carrie is a 2006 alumna of Leadership Douglas County and earned designations from CAMICB as a Certified Manager of Community Associations (CMCA) and Association Management Specialist (AMS), while spending eleven years as the community relations manager and executive director of a large-scale master planned community in Colorado.
Carrie also leads the Castle Rock Chamber of Commerce Leadership Douglas County program and oversaw that organization's Young Entrepreneurs Academy from 2013-2016. She has developed and implemented fund drives; solicited corporate involvement and support and maintained outreach programs within the community. Identifying, fostering and nurturing strategic community connections that will build long-term goodwill for an organization has always been her passion.
As a resident of Castle Rock, Carrie and her family have called Douglas County home for the past 19 years. She has been active in the community and has volunteered on school advisory committees, served on the Castle Rock Chamber board of directors, co-chaired the Castle Rock WineFest for ten years and served on the Leadership Douglas County steering committee. Carrie also fulfilled the duties of a HOA board president for five years, was a founding member of the Castle Rock Optimist Club and is a recipient of the Ping Lee Jung Memorial Volunteer of the Year Award. She and her husband have two children and one grandchild.
