Susan Squyer has been a City Council Member in Lone Tree since May 2010. In that capacity Susan serves on the Colorado Municipal League’s Policy Committee, Douglas County Emergency Management Group, and chairs the Board of the Cherry Creek Basin Water Quality Authority. Prior to that Susan served 11 years on Lone Tree’s Planning Commission and chaired that commission for 5 of those years.
Since retiring from the corporate world, Susan has been able to focus much of her energy on philanthropic work. She is the Founder of the Lone Tree Arts Center Guild and Founder of the Giving Tree charity food and school supply drive supporting families in Douglas County. She is a founding member of the Lone Tree Chamber of Commerce and is a board member of Leadership Douglas County Alumni.
One of Susan’s great passions is raising monies to support research and patient services for Denver’s Barbara Davis Center for Childhood Diabetes since her granddaughter’s diagnosis in 2005. As a member of the CDF Guild, Susan chairs the Jewels for Hope committee that sells pre-owned jewelry for the cause. To date they have raised $300,000.
Since joining the Board of the Douglas County Community Foundation in June 2009, Susan has served as Vice-Chairman Board.
Susan completed an MBA in International Business at Regis University in 1995. Susan has lived in the metro area since 1970 and has lived in Lone Tree with her husband Paul since 1997. They have a combined family of six children and ten grandchildren.
